What is Birdie Pro?
Birdie Pro is a smart indoor air-quality monitor shaped like a little yellow bird. It physically "faints" when the air quality in a room deteriorates and stands back up once the room is properly ventilated. It's the upgraded successor to the original Birdie / Canairi monitor.
How does it actually work?
Instead of beeping or flashing, Birdie communicates through movement. When air quality drops, Birdie drops. It stays "dead" until you open a window and let some fresh air in. Once the air is clean, Birdie pops back up. It's a calm, glanceable cue rather than another notification competing for your attention.
Differences between Birdie Pro & Birdie?
The analog "fainting" magic is the same, but the Pro adds far more sensing and a companion app. Birdie Pro now measures CO2, humidity, temperature, mold risk, pollen, and outside air quality, where the predecessor was purely a hardware device.
Do I need the app? Does it work on its own?
No app required for the core experience. Birdie Pro can still monitor CO2 without the app, the fainting behavior works on its own. The app is there if you want deeper insight, detailed metrics, and historical data. That means you need the app if you'd like to track temperature, humidity, calculate mold-risk, check pollen numbers, and outdoor air-quality (AQI) data.
Does it connect to my smart home?
Yes. It supports smart home ecosystems like Home Assistant and Homey, with more integrations planned.
Will Birdie Pro need a subscription?
No. Birdie Pro doesn't require any subscription. The app and all of its features are included with your device at no extra cost. You buy it once and everything works, with no recurring fees or paywalled features. Your history is kept on the device for 30 days and synced to the cloud for free. We simply don't store cloud data for longer than one year.
What does Birdie Pro measure?
CO2, temperature, and humidity onboard, plus calculates mold-risk, pollen, and outdoor air-quality (AQI) data surfaced through the app. Inside is a suite of Swiss-made Sensirion sensors measuring CO2, humidity, and temperature with uncompromising Swiss precision.
Where should I hang my bird?
As a rule of thumb; 1 Birdie should be enough to cover a room up to 100m². We typically recommend to install the bird in the room of your home where you spend most of your time. If you have multiple floors or closed-off rooms (a bedroom) we suggest 1 Birdie each floor/closed-off room. We recommend you to install the bird in a height of 1,5-2,5m.
How do I hang Birdie® on the wall?
Birdie comes with a wall mount that you can put up with either the included screw or the included 3M tape.
What is the expected battery time of Birdie®?
Battery time is up to 1 year with regular usage.
How is it powered? How long does the battery last?
It's fully wireless. It has a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 1 year on a single charge via a standard USB C (included with the product). Charging time is approximately 8 hours.
Lights and sounds?
None — Unlike other air quality monitors, Birdie® will let you know when to ventilate your home without the use of annoying light or sound. Birdie® stands out by using storytelling and intuitive design as nudging mechanisms to encourage the user to take action on their indoor climate.
